Matching grant to the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science

The Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science (RDFRS) stands for evidence-based life. The only reason to believe the truth of a proposition is evidence. Moral and aesthetic judgments are another matter but, where facts about the real world are concerned, evidence means scientific evidence. Modern society harbours two main enemies of reason and science. The first enemy is irrational faith in traditional beliefs, scriptural dogma, private revelation, and priestly authority. The second is the fashionable “postmodern” doctrine that there is no objective truth, but only “social constructs” peculiar to each culture, and “personal truths” that vary with racial identity, gender identity, etc. RDFRS stands for objective truths sub specie aeternitatis, scientific truths that belong to all humanity, truths that were true before humans existed and will be true after humanity is extinct.

Current projects supported by donations to RDFRS include Science Saves (fostering appreciation for science, and its role in our lives), TIES (helping teachers struggling with teaching evolution to hostile audiences), and the Translations Project (translating science and atheism books into the languages of Islam for free download).

I am pledging a matching grant (up to $25,000), so every dollar contributed to RDFRS before December 31^st will count double.
